As I blogged last night on BriarPatch, I regret not having made copies of such special sharings such as yours, B4Ron.

On the day of your great loss, Dec. 20th, Sunday, 1992, for me it started with the youngest, only 4 mo. old having 4 or 5 ounces of formula from 5:30 to 6:30 AM. By the way, as it worked out with all 3, I actually did most all of that stuff. Can't say that I had any particular "mothering" instinct about it, but it was, of course, a necessary caring for the kids, and I did that sort of thing day-in and day-out. Newborns and very young babies are fascinating creatures!  (how strange that sounds!)

Mr. Gene Shagley (sp) an old teacher friend of my father's (who passed in '89) stopped by and left a gift.

The kids' mom had to call the jury 1-800 number to find out the status: all were excused from their 2 weeks of duty.

We all took a ride (how strage that sounds!) to the P.O. to mail letters, then McDonalds South and to see Christmas lights out in the Heights. My mother was still alive and well, in what was to be her last 2 and 1/2 yrs. here on earth enjoying her 3 youngest grandkids everyday which I know she loved.

In a way, we all seem to be along for the ride on this planet. Thank you so much for sharing.

As a young, rather philosophical boy, though not a very good philosopher, I used to say there was a beauty to the coldness. If you might happen to know what that beauty was, please share. I've forgotten. It has become one friggin' hardship.

Perhaps the "beauty" to coldness is in the ability to dress to survive in it. There is probably a beauty to the deep sea that humans would never know about but for their intelligence to create the necessary things to be able to explore it.

Do you believe these are the most desperate times the news indicates?

I don't think so. All that 10,000 miles or 3 mo., whichever comes first, is a bunch of balogna, to help the businesses make some cash..I think this country is built so much on excess, and thus, waste, that that is ultimately why these times are being called so awful.

Capitalism is not a pretty thing in that there are failures and people suffer as a result. It is survival of the fittest. The business must be like a tree with sturdy deep roots that will weather a winter to bloom in the spring.

Yet, though the mind giveth, the mind taketh away, far worse than any winter: the ice man did his job faithfully and probably thought he'd have a job forever but for a little dream-turned-reality of "refrigeration" (based on discovered unshakable principles of science.)

So, ain't you glad somebody felt driven to find out all this stuff and invent cool stuff? Or would you rather be living in a tree fighting over a banana?

Hi Oliver. I have been lurking on most of the forums. I has been a long hard winter. I am glad that you survived. It was good to hear from you on the other forum. I will continue to lurk here and there. Take care.

Hey, thank you! Great to hear from you, B4Ron. I feel lucky there are nice forums around our area. Check out enjoydanville.com if you haven't.

It's nice to see someone else's name on here besides mine, lol.

So, do you really miss the old downtown or do you just say you do?

No, I really don't miss anything. There are beginnings, endings and reasons to move on. Without movement there is a nothingness, and that doesn't mean a whole lot, but at least it doesn't mean a lot of suffering either.

Does good have to be more evil than evil to triumph over evil?

Sort of, but, the destruction, pain and suffering inflicted to conquer the evil is OK.

If you take a simple, cheap, totally safe small pill each day to take the place of healthy eating, would you switch to that way?

What, and give up the only pleasure in life?

By the way, what are the pleasures of life?
